The theme-park industry is always changing, every decade again record-breaking coasters push the limits of technology and that of riders in new innovative ways. Coasters become more massive, taller, faster, and longer by the years. A very important transition period in the coaster manufacturing industry was the 90’s, the usual coaster was well-established and the usual coasters were increased in size, new ways of designing them were invented, and new kinds of coasters made the rounds. From acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ sci-fi action adventure “Pacific Rim” is now a pulse-pounding new 5D ride experience at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Presented in Six Flags Discovery Kingdom’s Iwerks 5D Theater, in partnership with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment, “Pacific Rim 5-D” opens with special limited sneak previews in January, with an official opening in the coming weeks. 
With The Joker on the horizon, one would think Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is set as far as additions to their already diverse lineup, but this seems as though it may not be the case.The park has strongly hinted at the return of the old 4D Theater. We think this could balance out their lineup in a few ways which we will talk about, as well as the specifics of the theater’s return and what the new attraction could have in store. 
We made another trip out to the wonderful Six Flags Discovery Kingdom to check on the progress made on The Joker over the course of these past two weeks, and we were very happy to see that things are indeed moving along at quite a good pace. The drop has been installed and more track has arrived at the park, as well as the installation of cross beams and connector pieces, so with all that in mind, please enjoy another one of our Joker construction updates. 
It’s December 31st 2015. It’s hard to believe that another year has passed. 2015 was one heck of a wild ride, what a year it was for us here at California Coaster Kings, and the amusement industry as a whole. Let’s celebrate the great memories of the year past, while also looking for even better things to come. Another winter has come, and thus follows another magical Holiday in the Park at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. We were very excited to experience another great year of this event, and we were not disappointed! For this piece, we will include our overall thoughts and opinions of the event and its major components, and we will save some of the minutiae for later occasion. 
Another small period has passed, and we figured it’d be time for another New Revolution Update! There really isn’t a whole lot to update on regarding The New Revolution at Six Flags Magic Mountain, thus it’ll be a quick update! Holiday in the park also started, we’ll touch on that a little bit later! 
Having been a few weeks since our last visit during Fright Fest, we made another trip out to the park before the next seasonal event starts. With Fright Fest in the rear view mirror and Holiday in the Park on the horizon, as well as just general changes, there is plenty to talk about! Let’s take a look at what’s going on at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom! 
After just a few weeks since our last update, The Joker has undergone tremendous amounts of construction. Northern California’s most anticipated coaster in over a decade is shaping up quite nicely, and the transformation now more apparent than ever. From old track removal, to dare I say, new track arrival? Let’s get into this update and discuss. 
It’s still that Halloween time of year, and all Californian parks stay opened late into the night for their annual haunts. Which means we all get to experience the best coasters around the state in the dark. Throw in some occasional cold nights, and you may find yourself experiencing the very best night-rides on some of them. In this top 5, we’ll be taking a look at the, arguably, 5 best coasters in the state when it comes to the experience guests will have when riding them at night! We are back with another brand new Joker update, and there has been quite a decent amount of progress has been made since our last visit to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. It seems that rather than go one step at a time doing the deconstruction and reconstruction for each element, it seems as though RMC is preparing the entire coaster very quickly with lots of deconstruction and track removal. this way, when the I-Box track arrives, they will be able to get a tremendous amount of track placement done in very little time. Copious amounts of deconstruction has been completed since our last visit, and the more Roar that is removed, the more evident the inevitable chaotic coaster that it to come, The Joker. 
California Coaster Kings attended this year’s Fright Fest at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom! Thanks to the VIP maze-passes we manage to visit all shows, all mazes, and all Scare Zones! This year’s event had 3 Scare Zones. In this particular review article, we’re looking at the 3 Scare Zones the event had this year.

Today’s was an interesting day at Six Flags Magic Mountain, it felt like Florida with the humidity, and West Coast Bash was going on! In addition Fright Fest preparations are in full swing, in fact there’s Fright Fest theming popping up everywhere! And what would a Six Flags Magic Mountain be without some New Revolution stuff? 
On National Roller Coaster Day (August 16th) 2015, the iconic Roar Wooden Roller Coaster closed at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Roar was the very first wooden coaster to utilize GCI’s Millennium Flyer trains. These trains allowed for tighter curves, quicker drops, and a twistier layout. After this revolutionary wooden coaster’s 16 years at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, it’s now closed for good. On September 3rd of 2015, a few days back, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom announced that Roar would be turned into the newest Rocky Mountain Construction Iron Horse Treatment Hybrid Coaster named: The Joker. – We all saw this Rocky Mountain Construction enhancement coming, and we’ve published a few articles about it before. – The Joker is a very interesting RMC Iron Horse since it’s the first ‘modern’ wooden coaster to receive this transformation. And just like the park it belongs in, it looks like it’ll be very unique. 
In this awesome state with a huge variety of different parks and coasters, we’re very fortunate to have a bunch of different launches. Whether it’s hydraulic, LIM, LSM, or Fly-Wheel, we’ve got it all in this state! Where as some states lack launches, we’ve got some that launch you up in the sky, into pitch black Egyptian tombs, or backwards through rare elements.
