Derrion: The anticipation builds around Universal Studios Hollywood’s 2019 addition: Jurassic World. There is still no word on when the attraction will open so I thought I would drop by the park for a quick update.

I always enjoy starting my day in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. As a true potter head the magic will never die because each visit is a different experience.
Rightfully so, the Dark Arts at Hogwarts castle is returning June 22nd. We highly recommend staying for this show as it includes new state of the art technology. After leaving the Studio Tour you will find safety nets that are used for the drones featured in the show.
Inside the park, the grad bash stage has been demolished and guest can now enjoy the Universal Plaza once more. This is a great spot to relax and I just love seeing the views of the Hogwarts Castle.
My favorite holiday, Halloween, is returning and I could not be more excited. The park has begun construction on various mazes that will be used for Halloween Horror Nights 2019.
New for 2020, Secret Life of Pets: Off The Leash is progressing pretty quickly. You can now see the exterior of the building facade that will resemble the NY city streets.
Down on the Lower Lot, the Transformers: The Ride extended queue looks to be nearing completion. They have added new tarp and lighting.
Just to the left of the extended queue, the rumored Nintendo World project is progressing rapidly. With SWGE opening this year, it will be great to see how immersive this world will be. The plot of land is sure to be hit as an extension to the lower lot.
Having not been on the Studio Tour in quite some time I decided to take a ride on Universal’s prized attraction. It is the gem of the park as guest get to experience an actual working studio that is unique to only Universal Studios Hollywood. Did you know the first Studio Tour was over 100 years ago? Guests began touring the sets as early as March 14, 1915.
There are many great highlights along the hour long tour. The Jaws scene is a true classic, and is sure to give guest a thrilling surprise. His name is Bruce by the way.
The Studio Tour is another great way to get behind the scenes on some great construction updates. This is the back side of the first show scene for Jurassic World: The Ride. We know that we will encounter the Mossasaurus during the ride but the actors Chris Pratt and Bryce Howard will also reprise there respective roles from the film and will be featured in the attraction. The scene is completely shut and reservoir filled as they have been testing the boats regularly.
In this shot you will see just how vast the lower lot is being extended. To the left you have progress on the rumored Super Nintendo World project and to the right they have added more attractions for kids in the new Jurassic World dino play area. This could be one of the reasons the attraction is a little delayed as they are not finished with the area.
Oh how we love our Dinosaurs! Check out the neat Spinosaurus that was added to the Jurassic forest section of the Studio Tour, it was originally a part of the Jurassic Park area of the lower lot.
The Spinosaurus may not be on site any more but so aren’t the construction walls. This is a great sign that the area is complete. It looks beautiful and I bet it will look even more grand at night.
Here is a closer look at the new Raptor Encounter sign. The sign also includes a digital wait time screen for guest convenience.
A new gate was added behind the new Raptor Encounter show building separating back stage. The area has been enclosed and looks just about complete.
The entire building is truly stellar in person. This will be a great vantage point when guests finally meet the raptors.
Jurassic Outfitters is back! Guests will be able to buy exclusive merchandise from the franchise and much of it has been stocked inside.
The Jurassic Cafe will be back to offer guests and exciting menu. Now guests can enjoy the convenience of sitting outdoors during the day or night with added heaters.
Here are a few menu items now being served at the restaurant. I am excited that more vegetarian options are available in the park.
My second favorite addition is the Isla Nu Bar. This location will offer new themed tropical alcoholic beverages that you could easily find on any island in the world. The bar is now open and more information can be found here.
This area is sure to be a success when it is fully open.
I am a super huge fan of the new paint job on the boats.
The Universal creative team did an amazing job with the area. You actually feel as though you were on Isla Nublar, heightened by the jungle themed audio with added dinosaurs intonations. We can not wait to report all the footage to come on Jurassic World: The Ride. Who knows the next update we do the ride may officially be open. Be sure to leave a comment on when you think this attraction will officially open.
