NASCAR Speed Park Trip Report

Alexander: Following our ideal Dollywood day, Sean and I popped over to nearby NASCAR Speed Park so that Sean could get a ride on the park’s resident coaster, Speedway Drift.

NASCAR Speed Park was so kind to host us during our visit (especially since it’s a very expensive coaster credit), but we have some concerns about the park’s future. We hope that, if nothing else, their good customer service can keep them afloat.

WinterFest at California’s Great America – 2017!

Sean: WinterFest has returned for a second year and has proven to be fair competition with the rest of the state’s major Holiday events, managing to offer a unique experience while limiting guests to just three of the park’s major coasters. The event offers quality entertainment, awesome lights all around the event, and unique attractions such as ice skating, character meet ‘n greets and faux snow of course! McLaren and I hit up the event, and would love to show off what the event has to offer! Oh and there’s a little RailBlazer construction for you all.  Continue reading “WinterFest at California’s Great America – 2017!”

Disneyland Christmas & small world holiday Exposé

Alexander: Ho Ho Ho!!!

It’s time for a holiday-tastic visit to Disneyland Resort!

There’s plenty to enjoy at Disney during the holiday season, but my personal favorite is it’s a small world holiday (which, at this point, I’d have to say is my absolute #1 favorite Disney attraction).

We were treated to a particularly-special ride on small world (more on that later), so we took the opportunity to do a full write-up on the classic flume’s holiday overlay. Continue reading “Disneyland Christmas & small world holiday Exposé”

HangTime Construction Update – November 19th 2017

Sean: With construction moving this incredibly fast, it is time for yet another HangTime Update! We’re also at the park for Knott’s Merry Farm today, but figured that some daylight HangTime pictures made for a great update while we cover Merry Farm in depth! In today’s HangTime update we find the lift-hill near complete, as well as the drop! In addition to which there are other small changes that indicate new track being placed soon. Let’s “dive” right in, shall we? Continue reading “HangTime Construction Update – November 19th 2017”

The 5 Best First Drops in California

Sean: What makes the best first impression on a coaster, and what makes the best last impression? That’s what we’re looking at this month. Last month we discussed the 5 Best Finales on Coasters in California, this time we’re taking a look at the best first drops around the state! Sadly some of our favorite first drops in the state, such as Perilous Plunge and Deja Vu, are no longer around, we have gained some incredible new first drops in the past few years that have made the list. Let’s look at a nice variety of drops that we find to be 5 of the best first drops in California! Continue reading “The 5 Best First Drops in California”

Knott’s Berry Farm and HangTime Update – November 7th 2017

Sean: Today we’re at Knott’s Berry Farm! Between the chaos of cleaning up Scary Farm and getting ready for Merry Farm, the ride closures are still plenty as the park prepares for possible winter weather and more crowds this Holiday season. Besides that, HangTime construction is moving along great and track and supports have already been installed! Continue reading “Knott’s Berry Farm and HangTime Update – November 7th 2017”

Six Flags Magic Mountain Update – November 4th 2017

Alexander/Sean: We made a quick visit to the park today to check out the construction that is starting to take place at the future home of Six Flags Magic Mountain’s new 2018 attraction, CraZanity. The new Boardwalk area construction has started earlier than we anticipated, but of course that’s not something to be mad about! In this update we’ll also be taking a look at

Floorless Ninja: How Vekoma Trains Could Elevate the Blackbelt of Coasters

Alexander: Here at CCK, we love Ninja. It’s one of our favorite coasters in California, and a must-ride on every visit to Magic Mountain.

We are also huge Arrow Dynamics fans in general and are positively enamored with Arrow Suspended coasters. The 5 Arrow Suspended coasters still in operation are my favorite coasters at their respective parks (yes, even Cedar Point’s Iron Dragon)

Six Flags Magic Mountain Fright Fest 2017 – Scare Zone Reviews

Sean: Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Fright Fest is back for another big year of haunting. In the past years they have had a lot of Scare Zones, they toned it down a bit to just six this year. Six Flags Magic Mountain’s Fright Fest has been one of the few events that has always impressed me with their Scare Zones, and unlike separately ticketed events, much relies on their Scare Zones. Let’s take a look at this year’s returning Scare Zones, and the new Damned ‘N Disguise. Continue reading “Six Flags Magic Mountain Fright Fest 2017 – Scare Zone Reviews”
