Six Flags America – Coaster Con XLI

Alexander: Welcome all to Cabin Crew Coaster Kings’ coverage of the American Coaster Enthusiasts’ annual roller coaster convention, Coaster Con!

It’s ACE’s 40th Anniversary, so the convention is being hosted where the club began: Virginia (Six Flags America is also part of the itinerary, located in nearby Maryland).

After picking up our registration packets and reuniting with some of the hundreds of folks I’ve been riding coasters with the last several years, we set out for Six Flags America. Continue reading “Six Flags America – Coaster Con XLI”

LOLiday World

Alexander: Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana is an iconic brand in the American theme park landscape, famous for its friendly staff, spotless midways, excellent value, enormous water park, and stellar collection of modern wooden coasters.

Holiday World’s reputation is often louder than the park itself; the moves they make at this point are often not as boisterous as the enthusiast communities’ response to them. Everything – from management conflict to new rides – has been hotly discussed over the last 15+ years or so, and whether one’s opinion is positive or negative, it goes without saying that opinions of Holiday World are often strong ones. HangTime, California’s First Dive Coaster, Opens at Knott’s Berry Farm

Sean: This is a good year for the Californian Cedar Fair parks! Both Knott’s Berry Farm and California’s Great America are opening world-class coasters this year. HangTime is a Gerstlauer Infinity Coaster and opened at Knott’s Berry Farm this week as California’s first Dive Coaster! This is the park’s biggest coaster addition in the 14 years, and of course that was reason for a party! Continue reading “HangTime, California’s First Dive Coaster, Opens at Knott’s Berry Farm”

CraZanity and Boardwalk Backstage Tour at Six Flags Magic Mountain – May 2018

Sean: Six Flags Magic Mountain was so kind to invite us to their next CraZanity construction tour, we were unable to make it, but our great friend Edward at Ride! was able to attend and create a report for us! Enjoy! Edward: Hello, we’re back at the mountain for an all-new construction tour of CraZanity and The Boardwalk! Much has changed since the last tour we had a couple months back. The park is still on schedule with opening the new area and should be ready this summer. Continue reading “CraZanity and Boardwalk Backstage Tour at Six Flags Magic Mountain – May 2018”

Phantasialand: Disney, but Better

Sean: We have traveled to quite a few parks around the world and we got the conclusion that we like Phantasialand the best. Not only is this park a thematic wonder world, it is a heaven for coaster enthusiasts too. The park is home to (arguably) the best Inverted Coaster, Multi-Launch Coaster, Spinning Coaster and Mine Train, while offering some of the best themed-settings this world has ever seen. Klugheim: Phantasialand’s Game of Thrones

Alexander: Who’s ready for some themed-area nirvana?

Phantasialand in Brühl, Germany is famous for its detailed environs, top-notch entertainment, and unparalleled collection of roller coasters. In 2016, however, Phantasialand’s already stellar status pierced the stratosphere with the unveiling of their magnum opus: a basalt-laiden norse wonderland called “Klugheim.”

The World isn’t Good Enough for TRON: Lightcycle Power Run, but Walt Disney World Might Be.

Sean: It has been a few weeks since I traveled across the globe in search for an exciting roller coaster that not many people have had the chance to ride, but that everyone is already obsessed with. My travels took me to Shanghai Disneyland, which is home to TRON: Lightcycle Power Run. Perhaps the best coaster Disney has ever opened.  Continue reading “The World isn’t Good Enough for TRON: Lightcycle Power Run, but Walt Disney World Might Be.”

Sean: One of my all-time favorite parks on this planet turns out to be Busch Gardens Tampa. Located only about an hour away from the major Orlando theme parks, Busch Gardens does a spectacular job offering an experience that is unique, and does so in a classic, clean, well-maintained setting. In addition to which the park also features some of the continent’s best coasters. Join us as we take a look at this massive Busch Gardens park! Continue reading “Journey to Busch Gardens Tampa”

The Amazing Fun Spot America Parks

Sean: People travel to Orlando for large resorts and parks like Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, and SeaWorld Orlando, but what makes Orlando such a great region after the major parks close for the day? Fun Spot America! These new smaller amusement parks offer clean, laid back, and thrilling fun. As we were in the region we decided to check out the smaller parks that people may some times forget about, Fun Spot America in Kissimmee and Fun Spot America in Orlando!  Continue reading “The Amazing Fun Spot America Parks”

HangTime Backstage Tour at Knott’s Berry Farm – March 2018

McLaren: Today we had the opportunity to take an even closer look at HangTime’s progress as we inch closer to its opening date. Recently, the last piece of track was put into place, which is totally exciting for most of us, but it is only the beginning as we continue in the process of testing, working out bugs in the system, and adding tedious, yet essential details. While we are still unaware of when exactly the ride will welcome the general public, we were able to have a clearer vision of what this ride has to offer come early this summer. Continue reading “HangTime Backstage Tour at Knott’s Berry Farm – March 2018”

A Look at Lunar New Year at SeaWorld San Diego

Sean: Lunar New Year is not celebrated by all parks, but major players like SeaWorld San Diego, Disneyland Resort, and Universal Studios Hollywood do love to celebrate. This has been a very successful January for the park, and we thought it was a great time to show you a bit of the event. Thanks to a reader for helping with the visuals!
