Preston: The Disneyland Resort is back! This past Thursday, July 9th, Downtown Disney District reopened after its nearly four-month closure due to COVID-19. In this update, we’ll show you the health and safety measures that have been added to the resort. We’ll also take a look at which locations did and did not open on July 9th. There are also some recently completed construction projects around Downtown Disney that we take a peek at.
– In the past, many of our images have been posted, featured, and shared on forums, social media platforms, and websites around the web. We work hard to provide the coverage that we do, and we encourage our audience to share our content and use our images, BUT ONLY IF proper credit is given to thecoasterkings.com. Thank you! –
Let’s look at the new safety measures that were recently put into effect first. The first thing I noticed when I walked into Downtown Disney was that all of the trash can’s lids were propped open. This was done to eliminate a high touch point.
There are also hand sanitizer dispensers all over the place.
In addition to the hand sanitizer dispensers, there was also an occasional hand washing station. I only saw a few of these during my visit, but it’s possible Disney has more on the way. The one pictured below is located adjacent to the ticket booths near the esplanade.
While we were in the esplanade, we peeked into both parks so we could see our favorite places. As you can see in the photo below, Disney has added plexiglass to the entrances of the two parks to protect both the Cast Members who scan guest’s tickets and annual passes along with the guests themselves.
Please enjoy these selfies of me in front of both Disneyland and DCA. 🙂
You guys have no idea how happy I was when I heard the esplanade music once again. The first song we heard when walking in was the Soarin’ theme. It was PERFECT.
During our entire day at Downtown Disney, we saw these signs all over the place giving health and safety reminders to guests. They give basic safety reminders along with a statement that says you voluntarily assume all risks related to COVID-19 by entering the premises.
The next place we went to was World of Disney! There was an extended queue that wrapped around the building and through the tram drop-off area. Physical distancing markers were in place.
They even set up umbrellas which was amazing! It was a toasty 86 degrees when we were there so the shade helped cool us down.
After we left World of Disney, we strolled down the length of Downtown Disney to see what else was new. Marceline’s Confectionery has received a new facade. The work began before the resort closed and was finished during the closure.
The last stop on our visit was the west end of Downtown Disney. This was the area that the fourth hotel of the Disneyland Resort was announced to be built on. Those plans fell through, and so now almost all the buildings that the restaurants, shops, etc were located in are vacant. This whole side is pretty much a ghost town.
Here is a long-shot of the main walkway of Downtown Disney where you can get a good look at the crowd level. Not too bad at all.
When you exit on the west end of the resort, you get to walk through one of the Disneyland Hotel walkways. It was great to see the hotel once again.
The reason I love the Disneyland Hotel so much is because it is so forested. This walkway reminds me of Adventureland!
That’s all for this Disneyland Resort update! It was amazing to be back at my favorite place. It also felt great to finally write another update for you all. SoCal coverage is finally back! Thank you for reading, and I will see you all in the next one!
