Derrion/Sean: As peak season comes to and end, I decided to provide a quick update on the changes taking place at Universal Studios Hollywood. The nightmare-filled world of Knott’s Scary Farm returns for its 46th season with a completely transformed park that brings terror to life as the largest immersive Halloween experience in Southern California. Every inch of the park becomes covered with hidden frights, prowling creatures, new spine-chilling scares and terrifying twists. This year guests will come face-to-face with fear as they brave through the park’s 14 haunted attractions including mazes and frightful scare zones, each eager to welcome new and unsuspecting victims. Knott’s Scary Farm is back for 25 horrifying nights from September 20 – October 31. Continue reading “Knott’s Scary Farm 2018!”

Nick: Earlier this summer, Toy Story land opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The land’s signature attraction is Slinky Dog Dash, a Mack Rides LSM launched family coaster. We recently got to go check it out, so read on to find out our thoughts!
Sean: Six Flags Magic Mountain’s now relocated roller coasters Deja Vu was one of my all-time favorite coasters. The Vekoma Giant Inverted Boomerang, the particular type of coaster, was plagued with maintenance and operational downtime which led to the relocation of the ride from Six Flags Magic Mountain to Six Flags New England in 2011, where it opened as Goliath in for the 2012 season. – Fast forward to 2018, it was time for us to check out the last remaining Giant Inverted Boomerang in the United States to run the original Vekoma trains. Thus we made the pilgrimage to Silverwood in Idaho. Home to a Deja Vu named Aftershock. Continue reading “Silverwood – Home of Deja Vu: Aftershock”

Alexander: Here at Coaster Kings, we like to fantasize about how things could be. We like imagining how things could be better (or at least different), especially when it comes to coaster performance.
By now, pretty much every enthusiast has had a “this needs to be RMC’d” moment when riding a wooden coaster that isn’t what it could be, but in the wake of a baker’s dozen Rocky Mountain Coasters Iron Horse projects since 2011’s game-changing New Texas Giant, the conversation has changed.
Sven: Hey everyone, it’s our special holiday today and what better way to celebrate with some coasters? There are many facts and figures out there about rollercoasters, but do you know these 10? Our updated version now on CCK! Continue reading “10 European Coasters Facts for Rollercoaster Day!”
Sean: With some friends over from Florida I had the chance to spend a full day at Six Flags Magic Mountain. I don’t do this very often but am happy to report I really had a wonderful time and that park operations were impressive and staff was attentive. The construction is moving along and Fright Fest is in full prep currently. The only downside of our time at the park was Viper being closed… more on that in the report below! Continue reading “Six Flags Magic Mountain Update – August 15th 2018”
