Ice Skating, Rides, Snow Falling, Millions Of Lights & Santa To Deliver Merriment

The Bay Area’s newest and most immersive holiday tradition, WinterFest, opens at California’s Great America on Friday, November 24 and will entertain guests on select dates through December 30. During WinterFest, Great America will be magically transformed into a winter wonderland where guests can experience unique new features, as well as fan favorites such as skating in front of the iconic Carousel Columbia, admiring magnificent displays of lights and décor, viewing spectacular live holiday shows, experiencing 25 rides and attractions, seeing Santa’s workshop and Mrs. Claus’ kitchen, and enjoying scrumptious holiday fare at numerous dining locations. THE GREAT PUMPKIN FEST AT CALIFORNIA’S GREAT AMERICA BEGINS SEPTEMBER 30

The Great Pumpkin Fest at California’s Great America opens September 30 and runs Saturdays and Sundays through October 29 (closed October 22). The festival is a non-scary daytime event for the entire family and has become a Bay Area tradition for the extended Halloween season. RAILBLAZER – A Single Rail Coaster Coming to California’s Great America in 2018!

California’s Great America will introduce a groundbreaking new single rail steel coaster, RailBlazer, for the 2018 season. RailBlazer will be the first coaster of its kind on the West Coast featuring a single rail track throughout; the design requires the rider to straddle the rail, creating an extremely low center of gravity that amplifies every move and enables more dynamic turns and rotations than have ever been possible on a coaster. With an eight-passenger single file train hugging the rail, the coaster will give riders an unobstructed view of the ground and air as they speed smoothly over the twisting track. California’s Great America will add to its incredible lineup of live entertainment and festivals with Red, White & Brews, a hometown celebration of Americana food and fun taking place May 27-29 and June 3-4. Red, White & Brews will bring the Hometown Square area of the park to life with locally sourced food experiences, more than 25 regional craft brews, Northern California wines, Bay Area bands, outdoor games and kids entertainment. California’s Great America Purchases 100% Renewable Energy from Silicon Valley Power to Cover Electricity Use

Silicon Valley Power (SVP) is pleased to announce that California’s Great America, Santa Clara’s 100-acre amusement park, will cover 100% of its electricity use with renewable energy through SVP’s Santa Clara Green Power program. Santa Clara Green Power is a renewable energy program that allows Santa Clara residents and businesses to purchase 100% solar and wind energy. Patriot Opens at California’s Great America

Byron: California’s Great America was nice enough to invite us to the media day for their new ride experience for 2017; Patriot! After a 25 year run as one of the first B&M stand up coasters, Vortex closed last year to receive new floorless trains and be converted to Patriot. Below I’ll go over what the media day and opening ceremony consisted of, as well as my thoughts on this new ride experience.

Patriot Trains Are Being Placed on the Tracks at California’s Great America!

California’s Great America showed off the brand new Patriot trains a while ago, and during the park’s off-season, lots of work has been done to convert Vortex to Patriot. The Stand-Up to Floorless conversion is the second one to take place in the Cedar Fair chain. The park just released a video showing off the cars being placed on the freshly-painted blue tracks!
