Another winter has come, and thus follows another magical Holiday in the Park at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. We were very excited to experience another great year of this event, and we were not disappointed! For this piece, we will include our overall thoughts and opinions of the event and its major components, and we will save some of the minutiae for later occasion.
First and foremost, the entrance plaza has been done of wonderfully. Despite the general great decoration and lighting among the stores in the area, the two major highlights are the tree, and the all new light show Dazzle! (Yes it’s quite dazzling). The tree is lit up wonderfully, and is quite impressive in size as the largest Christmas Tree in Nor-Cal.
Dazzle has its lights set of on every available vertical space and coordinated precisely with a Holiday sound track. We couldn’t be too much more pleased with this addition.
The park also has many themed areas throughout, one of which is Christmas Tree Forrest. The collection of dozes of lit up Christmas Trees is just as magical as it is spectacular.
Not too far away, Oasis Plaza has been transformed into Toy land. Huge Toy sculptures line the midways in what in the area as well as a good display of lights, including the lift hills of Kong and Medusa. The only minor complaint is some of the figures are tucked away in the shadows slightly and could be a bit better lit. It is still a good area, but maybe comparatively less impressive.
The last themed area of the park is Candy Cane Lane. Located in the midway between the entrance plaza and Superman, large inflatable Candy Canes are set up throughout and arches of lights cover the area. The themed elements really surround guest making it more immersive.
As a side note, there are a handful of wood burning fires set up for guests to warm up by as in years past. Very nice touch.
Just behind Toyota Stadium is the classic giant snow globe for guests to join some elves and frolic about. It’s a fun activity for the whole family.
Last but not least, Blitzen’s Wonderland Snow hill. The giant snow hill behind Toyota Stadium is such a great opportunity to do some sledding in California for no upcharge! It’s a very unique experience for California, and even provides some holiday thrills!
Behind/around the Toyota Stadium there’s an array of winter wonderland blue and white tree lighting. Very similar to Magic Mountain’s Winter Wonderland!Â
