Grinchmas at Universal Studios Hollywood 2015!

DSCN2332 (Large)It’s the Theme Park Holiday season and that means… MORE Holiday stuff! Let’s take a look at Universal Studios Hollywood’s annual Grinchmas event, themed after… the Grinch. The park looks wonderful this time of year, and there are a bunch of activities for families during Grinchmas. Let’s take a look.

Before we head into the park for the Grinch, here’s King Kong ruling over CityWalk with his festive hat. 20151206_101342 (Large)20151206_101532 (Large) Inside the park we find the actual Grinchmas event. The event mostly takes place inside the Universal Plaza. DSCN2286 (Large) There’s a variety of shows and activities. Including Meet ‘n Greets with Max, the Grinch and a WHOle lot of other characters ;). Note that besides the Tree Lighting all show times differ per day. DSCN2287 (Large) Here’s a look at the Wholiday Tree inside the plaza. DSCN2291 (Large) There’s the Trim Up the Tree-Lot where guests make ornaments and place them in the trees. DSCN2288 (Large) There’s a separate Meet ‘n Greet with Max this year. Rather than with the Grinch as they set it up previous years. DSCN2292 (Large) The lines to meet Max were significantly shorter than those to meet the Grinch himself. This Meet ‘n Greet with the Grinch hosted the longest line of the day at the park, of 60 minutes. 20151206_115217 (Large) Let’s move to the Studio Tour for now, which has some special Wholiday awesomeness going on during Grinchmas! DSCN2269 (Large) On the Who-Ville sets on the studios’ back lot, there’s a musical performance of about 2 to 3 minutes for each Studio Tour tram. Which also continues during the Night Time Studio Tour! DSCN2274 (Large) DSCN2273 (Large) But what would be a holiday event if we didn’t take a better look at night? Back to the Universal Plaza! DSCN2327 (Large) Where Universal Studios wishes you a happy Whobilation Celebration! DSCN2328 (Large) Inside the plaza, continuing from our day-time look at the event, there are several snack cards decked in special Grinchmas signage. DSCN2331 (Large) Of course there’s that crazy-cool tree that has a wonderful light-package at night! DSCN2332 (Large) The plaza is significantly busier at night and there’s a wonderful atmosphere. Here’s Max by the way. DSCN2336 (Large) The photo-op/ Meet ‘n Greet with the Grinch is in the Who-Ville Post Office this year. A way larger set up. In addition, guests can send letters to the Grinch and for each letter sent, a book will be donated to a child in need. DSCN2337 (Large) And then there’s the phenomenal highlight of the event. The Whobilation Tree Lighting! Where all characters that walk around the plaza (Who-Ville) come on stage and perform for the tree lighting to happen! DSCN2342 (Large) DSCN2343 (Large) And once the Grinch and citizens of Who-Ville have officially lit the tree, Universal Plaza turns into a snowy winter wonderland. Keep in mind we’re in Southern California, the snow isn’t cold nor real 😛DSCN2345 (Large) The event is wonderful for families. In addition it keeps improving each year. It’s not as large scale as some other events in California, but we all know that when Universal Studios puts something on they do make sure it’s done so spectacularly and professionally. DSCN2351 (Large) We have more pictures and a look at the rest of the park that’s holiday themed, but not necessarily Grinchmas themed in our Universal Studios Hollywood Update from the same day. This update also includes a look at the construction of Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the new retail center that’s being revealed, and much more! Make sure to check it out!  DSCN2352 (Large)
