California’s Great America showed off the brand new Patriot trains a while ago, and during the park’s off-season, lots of work has been done to convert Vortex to Patriot. The Stand-Up to Floorless conversion is the second one to take place in the Cedar Fair chain. The park just released a video showing off the cars being placed on the freshly-painted blue tracks!
California’s Great America remains to be the only major Californian theme park that closes for several months for an off-season in the winter. They’re reopening in March. During the winter months all of the park’s attractions and rolling stock get refurbished, and this year the transformation from Vortex to Patriot was part of the off-season shenanigans.
The park launched a video on their Facebook page showing off a Patriot car being placed on the track. Below is a shot of it, find the video here. 
The park showed off the Patriot trains earlier last season, and they look phenomenal! The park has no blue coasters, and this fresh splash of blue (both on the track and the cars) is a welcomed sight! (Pictures provided by California’s Great America).
The park is busy with the conversion of this B&M to get it open at the start of the Season. No actual opening date for Patriot has been set, but be on the look out for it! (Picture seen below was also published on the CGA Facebook page).
The original release stated:
“Patriot will take riders to a 91-foot height before plummeting them into a 360-degree loop at 45 miles per hour. Patriot’s position in the park makes it a dynamic visual from three different sections of Great America.
The inspiration for the coaster’s name was taken from the fact that the ride is nestled adjacent to All American Corners within a park whose name celebrates America.”

I thought an opening date of March 28 was announced quite some time ago. Of course, things could change.
That’s a Tuesday right after the opening of the season. I doubt it.
