While we’re only a few weeks into the year, we’ve already got our second Asia update for 2021! This time around we’ve got a ton of news, including projects in Dubai, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Beijing and additional exciting coaster and theme projects in China to update you on!
– The vast majority of images found on this website are owned by us, and thus require you to give us credit when using/posting these elsewhere. For many of these projects in Asia, we do not own the images! We will list the source of the images in every section of the below post. Tokyo DisneySea – Arayasu, Chiba, Japan
Construction is rapidly moving along for Tokyo DisneySea’s Fantasy Springs. The new land is home to marquee dark rides for Frozen and Tangled, as well as Peter Pan. The massive expansion sits far beyond current park borders. Much like the rest of DisneySea, the area will take on a naturalistic environment. See the below images from themeparx for current progress. You can click on each image and swipe to take a closer look!
Bollywood Parks Dubai – Dubai, UAE
Dubai Parks and Resorts is reopening Bollywood Parks on January 21st, 2021. The reopening is accompanied by a large selection of new attractions including a new Namaste India restaurant. Some attractions opening here are transplants from the cancelled Six Flags Dubai project and include the 460ft/140m tall Bollywood Starflyer. The new GCI Wooden Coaster will be named Bombay Express and will open later this year. Thanks to themeparx for pulling these official images together. Lotte’s Magic Forest – Busan, South Korea
Lotte World, a well-established theme park resort with multiple attractions in Seoul is adding a new theme park: Lotte’s Magic Forest. This theme park, partially designed by Legacy Entertainment wanted to focus on a magic theme but a cozy and highly immersive version of the theme. There are an array of concepts for the park, which predict rides like a B&M Dive Coaster, Starflyer, MACK Rides Power Splash, Log Flume, dark rides, and much more. Check out some of these concepts below. You can click on each image and swipe to take a closer look!
Our friends at themeparx have some recent construction images of the site, as well as even more concepts. Much of the construction at this time is ground work and buildings. Quite some buildings are already going vertical, bringing to life some of the concepts seen above.
Hong Kong Ocean Park – Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong
Hong Kong Ocean Park along with the Hong Kong government have announced the new business model of how Ocean Park will run in the future. They will move to a free admission model where rides and experiences are paid for as you go. The park has received 5.4B Yuan to assist in this transition. However, there are 7 major rides being retired within the next three years, which includes a personal favorite of ours, Dragon. You can check out our article about that here.
Opening this year is Ocean Park’s new water park that has a very modern aesthetic and has a gorgeous view of the bay. The water park is partially indoor and outdoor and features a selection of slides. Below see an array of concepts and construction images of the project.
