Asia Coaster News – Mid-January 2021

The rest of update will coincide with a map of China, the numbers on the map will correspond with the topics/projects below!

1. Chimelong Marine Science Park – Zhuhai, Guangdong, China

As part of a major expansion to the Chimelong Ocean Kingdom Resort in South China, not only are they getting an additional theme park, they’re also adding a cable car system to the top of the mountain for amazing views from the bay, perhaps even Macau and Hong Kong far off in the distance. Below see some construction pictures from themeparx.

The entrance to the massive second gate is a giant colorful plaza filled with ocean-inspired cute theming. The entrance from the Chimelong Marine Science Hotel (located within the theme park) will be a giant LED ceiling. The hotel is scheduled to open January 30th, while the official opening of the park is still unknown.

The hotel’s grand press opening already occurred. This is the resort’s third hotel, and the second largest. The Chimelong Hengqin Bay Hotel remains to be the resort’s flagship hotel with a dolphin habitat as part of the massive pool complex overlooking the South China Sea. It’s also currently Mainland China’s largest hotel. Chimelong Ocean Kingdom (main gate) is China’s highest attended theme park with over 11.7 Million visitors in 2019 and with the second gate opening soon, this massive new Marine Science Hotel is needed to keep up with demand.

2. Fantawild Taizhou – Taizhou, Zhejiang, China

Vekoma is on a roll with new designs for their looping coasters. A wide variety of new launch and lift-hill looping coasters can be found around, mainly in Mainland China. The official Vekoma Facebook Page shared some images of the new Renegade model under construction at Fantawild Taizhou. Check it out! You can click on each image and swipe to take a closer look!

3. Forest World – Suzhou, Jiangsu, China

The highly-anticipated MACK Rides launch coaster coming to Forest World in Suzhou has completed track work. The coaster with the name Hurricane Roller Coaster will be MACK Rides’ tallest and fastest coaster yet standing 62m tall. The coaster features a Top Hat, Immelman, Cobra Roll, Vertical Loop, airtime hills and most notably a high-speed Barrel Roll mid-ride. These images were shared to Roller Coaster Master.

4. Sunacland Chongqing – Shapingba, Chongqing, China

Also found on Roller Coaster Master is this video of Legendary Twin Dragon, the tallest Intamin Impulse Coaster in the World standing 70 meters tall.

5. Happy Valley Nanjing – Nanjing, Jiangsu, China

Roller Coaster Dream and Amusement Insider paired up to create an animation of the Cheetah Hunt-inspired Intamin launch coaster at the new Happy Valley Nanjing. This video clearly shows the differences between Cheetah Hunt and Light of Revenge. This coaster did not open with the park and expected to open sometime this Spring. This definitely looks like a much more thrilling version of Cheetah Hunt:

6. Ocean Flower Island – Danzhou, Hainan, China

Ocean Flower Island is a mass development from the Evergrande Group, and has been under construction since 2017. As one of China’s largest theme park resorts, the project is home to an Evergrande Marine Park as well as Evergrande Snowberg Water Kingdom. These ambitious parks in the resort are highly themed. See some images below from themeparx. You can click on each image and swipe to take a closer look!

The main park is Evergrande Fairyland. This project is home to a custom S&S Free Spin, multiple family coasters, a highly themed Vekoma Firestorm, impressive water ride themed to a palace and more. This large scale project is definitely one I am making a point of visiting once open. Check out some of the construction images below. You can click on each image and swipe to take a closer look!

7. Universal Beijing Resort – Tongzhou, Beijing, China

With VelociCoaster being such a hot topic at Universal Orlando Resort lately, I want to highlight some of Universal Beijing Resort’s Jurassic World construction. This will be one of the most marketable lands at the park and features several restaurants, indoor attractions, a family coaster and a marquee dark ride. Below are a combination of images from themeparx, China.org.cn and Beijing TV showing off the detail in the area, as well as all the unique attractions it will offer as the land is 100% unique from to Jurassic Park/ World lands at other Universal parks resorts.
