Universal Studios Hollywood Update – September 5,2019

Derrion: I had a great opportunity to make it in to the park today. The Halloween season is almost here! Lets take a quick look on some new updates in the park.

– In the past, many of our images have been posted, featured, and shared on forums, social media platforms and websites around the web. We work hard to provide the coverage that we do, and we encourage our audience to share our content and use our images, BUT ONLY IF proper credit is given to thecoasterkings.com. Thank you! –

This will not last long but it’s such a beauty to see. I mean, a fifteen minute wait for Jurassic World: The Ride is pretty ridiculous. This was a great day to visit the park.

Even The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was clear.

Over near Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem, construction walls have been extended out for the new Secret Life of Pets attraction. There is still not much to see from the facade of the new show building.

Although the access to Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem is blocked, guests can still get to the restrooms on this side.

Heading down to the Lower Lot,  the park has installed a new concession stand. Unlike most in the park, you can buy an assortment of specialty hot dogs along with other beverages.

With Jurassic World: The Ride now open, the progress on the rumored Super Nintendo World has kicked into high drive.

The site has gone vertical and we could not be more excited to see what the future holds for all the new attractions!

The lower lot has been in need of an expansion. This project will almost double the area.

Possibly due to the light crowds in the park, the Lower Lot Studio Store was closed on this visit.

In major news, we are happy to report that Jurassic World: The Ride is officially open! After many set backs, the ride has proved to live up to the hype and if you would like a full analysis and on ride footage please click here.

The park is treating the new attraction as its own mini-land. Guests visiting the “island” have the opportunity to shop, see dinosaurs, and my favorite in any paradise, enjoy tropical beverages. The piña colada is the best!

As previously predicted, you will be able to meet Blue the Raptor just outside the new and updated raptor encounter space. The area has added new speakers that truly bring this experience to life.

Along with Blue, the park has added an assortment of dinosaurs that roam the area. Including a baby raptor named Tango and this beauty. Her name is Juliette!

Ah, it is so great to see the boats making their splash in the park again. I believe that the attraction is a great improvement to the space but the enthusiast in me will always hope for more.

Back on the Upper Lot, the Studio Tour was no more than a fifteen minute wait.  This year at Horror Nights, the Terror Tram will not be returning for the famed spooky event. Continue reading for an update on what you will be able to find here during this year’s event.

Halloween Horror Nights

Yes, everyone my favorite time of the year is just around the corner! The event will run select nights during 9/12-11/3/19.

This year is set to be bigger and better with ten mazes (if you include The Walking Dead) and many interactive zones.

The props look amazing as always. These beauties look as though they are still waiting to be placed throughout New York Street.

The backside of the Holidayz in Hell maze will be just across from the entrance of Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem.

It’s great to see the park returning to their original roots. I am a fan of the original mazes because they are much more creative. Based off of last year’s Holidayz in Hell scare-zone, the new Holidayz in Hell maze should not disappoint. Here’s the maze facade.

How evil! This snowman was left out in extemely hot weather. It seems it has found a new home here. I vaguely remember seeing them in the Krampus maze for HHN 2016 season.

Someone tell Krampus that it’s okay, Christmas will be here soon!

These props look amazing! You will find them in the scarezone just after the Holidayz in Hell maze on the upper lot.

On the lower lot, a Stranger Things inspired concession stand has appeared that will likely offer themed food and treats.

More work continues on the Killer Klowns From Outer Space maze. From this angle, you can see that many of the special effects have already been placed.

Since the terror tram will not be returning this year, a couple of mazes have appeared on the Backlot next to tram loading. This appears to be for Jordan Peele’s US maze, and to be honest, this is the one I’m anticipating the most.

Thank You all for reading thus far! We will be back soon for a major Halloween Horror Nights update.
