Six Flags Magic Mountain Update – March 5th 2017

Sean: Time for another Six Flags Magic Mountain update! Or should I say “Oblivia”?

This time around… Some awesome photography from our newest team member! Let’s take a look around the park at some of the construction going on over at Apocalypse and Metropolis!

– Over the years, many of our images have popped up on other sites and forums, awesome that our coverage spreads, not so awesome that not everyone mentioned where they got the images from. We are totally fine with our audience using our images, BUT ONLY IF credit is given to californiacoasterkings.com. Thank you! –

After even more rain literally every corner of the park is now green, and so are the surrounding hills. So what better picture to start the update with than a shot of the Full Throttle hillside <3

I’m pretty confident that the vast majority of our readers have seen Katy Perry’s new music video for Chained to the Rhythm. Kudos to good ol’ Katy for being so relaxed while filming and ‘singing’ on Full Throttle.

Watch the music video here:

Just as funky as the music video above, I’m still amused by the tackiness of the Oxygen & Massage Zone signage. Maybe one day this area will be turned into a Spillikin Corners type area again. I’m all for it! – Notice Tatsu in the back, which has been closed for a while, I’m hearing it should reopen this weekend!

Thank you Six Flags Magic Mountain for running Jet Stream all winter long. It’s been a cold winter and ridership hasn’t been the greatest so I appreciate the operations while Tidal Wave and Roaring Rapids are closed. AND OMG NINJA! Still one of my favorite coasters around! 😀

Time to head over the Metropolis! (BTW we’ll have a backstage tour later this week, so excuse our short coverage of that in this update).

Let’s hope that both Sand Blasters and Scrambler will receive some (major) touch ups before Metropolis opens. They need it!

Remodeling of the new plaza continues on the right side of the picture, and the restaurants in the center seem to be cleared from all the construction happening last week. I’m curious what they will end up looking like!

Not much has changed from last week on this side of the ride’s show building and restaurants, but here’s a picture anyways 🙂

For an Arrow fan like myself, this view is still overly exciting every time I pass through the Full Throttle Plaza!

We all know how much I, and my fellow team members, LOVE Viper. So why not throw in some Viper shots for you to enjoy.

Watch out for some more specialized Viper articles soon, especially since rumors of its removal are still floating around.

SKY TOWER! I miss you dearly <3

But we have The New Revolution to enjoy! When it rained earlier in the day, the park ran the refurbished Schwarzkopf looper without VR. Later on when the rain ceased, the park dispatched trains with VR.

Unknown to my knowledge last week, as management got me onto The New Revolution Galactic Attack, there’s a pre-VR video in the line.

There’s two videos. A quick introduction to the Galactic Attack theme and a video going through the boarding procedures. Unfortunately the video shows the riders adjusting their headsets while waiting to get on the train, and then take it off ’til their seated. When guests were doing the same, as instructed in the video, they were barked at by staff members to take off their headsets. It’s a bit conflicting. Nonetheless kudos to the staff for being so helpful and effective with assisting guests with their headsets once they board. To read a quick recap of what I thought of the experience, click here.

OMG, what’s that hiding in the distance?

It’s a total retrack of Apocalypse! 😀 The much-much-much needed refurbishment!

Much like GCI did to GhostRider this past year, another company “Wood Coaster Development” is taking care of the Apocalypse refurbishment. I’m incredibly excited to ride the refurbished woodie again soon.

As stated above, this work is being done by Wood Coaster Development. The below pictures were taken by them and can be found on their Facebook page, here!

Next month we’re launching a brand new page and brand hosted here on californiacoasterkings.com, make sure to follow us on Social Media (links can be found on the bottom of this update) for more details, soon! 😀

In true CCK fashion let’s finish off the update with yet another awesome Viper shot!

  1. So, should I go to the park on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, or Sunday, April 16, 2017 (Easter Day) ?
    Crowd Thoughts ?

  2. Magic mountain looks great I love that there refurbishing apocalypse.you guys should check out discovery kingdom Wonder Woman I have seen markings on the go cart track what could that mean could there be another coaster in 2018.

  3. Hopefully SFMM is mulling over refurbishing Viper, and it not get removed. I could see the Arrow looper getting those Vekoma trains with vest style OTSR, similar to what SFOG’s Blue Hawk last year, for a more enjoyable ride experience.
