The rest of update will coincide with a map of China, the numbers on the map will correspond with the topics/projects below!
1. Fantawild Taizhou – Taizhou, Zhejiang, China
Vekoma has been on a roll with their new launch coasters, loopers, and production models. A new model, the Vekoma Renegade, has come to light as construction videos of the new coaster at Fantawild Taizhou made it around the web! The coaster features a traditional lift-hill with one of the highlight elements being an inverted stall. Below check out a video of the construction that is about 40% finished.
2. Journey to the West – Huai’an, Jiangsu, China
While the province of Jiangsu is filled with top notch parks and western-manufactured world class coasters (Dinoconda, Starry Sky Ripper, Vekoma Shockwave, Falcon, Wings of Glory, Cheetah Hunt “clone”, etc.), a new park named Journey to the West will introduce a new type of roller coaster from MCC Rides. The coaster is a looping coaster with a Batwing, Cobra Roll and corkscrew. Below see an array of pictures from Roller Coaster Master showing off the strange looping coaster as well as other projects at the park. 3. Chimelong Marine Science Park – Zhuhai, Guangdong, China
Chimelong Marine Science Park comes up in pretty much every update we do on Asian parks because this impressive new indoor theme park will break several records and bring the astonishing quality and immersion from the original Chimelong Ocean Kingdom. We found new details and schematics on the park’s SS Discovery attraction. A high-tech ocean themed simulation/walk through experience. The attraction seems to heavily rely on special effects to simulate being on a ship as you make your way through the experience. The finale is a giant theater-like room where people will stand instead of sitting down. This scene (by use of circular screens) is to mimic standing on the front deck of the ocean liner.
Below you will find an array of schematics of the experience, which has been designed by the Hungerford Design, Inc. (Who were heavily involved with big projects in the industry, including the Bourne Stuntacular and Epic Universe projects for Universal Orlando Resort). You can click on each image and swipe to take an up-close look.
4. Shanghai Disneyland – Pudong, Shanghai, China
Shanghai Disneyland is celebrating their 5th anniversary this year. The park has drawn quite the attendance over the first years and is in the midst of adding their next expansion area, a Zootopia-themed land. The park topped off the show building for the area’s marquee dark ride this week! Thanks to themeparx contributors for the below images. You can click on each image and swipe to take an up-close look.
5. Universal Beijing Resort – Tongzhou, Beijing, China
Project managers on the Universal Beijing Resort project have stated that the major construction of the park has been completed. Adjustments will still be made and details will be added, however, the majority of the work left to do is operations related. Universal Studios Beijing is expected to start trial (soft) openings in March with official opening some time in May. We have an array of officially-released promotional images as well as recent images of the park coming to life below. Thanks to themeparx contributors for the below images. You can click on each image and swipe to take an up-close look.
The entrance to the Kung Fu Panda themed land is gorgeous! The land will be entirely indoor with a boat ride E-ticket. The main street/ Hollywood Blvd. will be covered to bring shade and protection from rain/snow. The Universal Beijing Resort marquee hotel is also the entrance to the park. Lagoon is filled!
