Though we’ve had the quietest summer Orlando has had in years, this Labor Day Weekend brought relatively solid crowds. Universal Orlando Resort’s three parks all reached capacity early in the day. Let’s take a look at the wait times around the resort!
It turns out that though being at capacity, the parks were only allowing active date-specific ticketholders in. Passholders, or guests with tickets that did not have a specific date, were not allowed into CityWalk. The park has not used the virtual queues much the past few weeks, except for Saturdays (which seem to bring crowds weekly). Today however, is quite different.
Universal Studios Florida
We’ll use the official Universal Orlando Resort App to get some insights, all screenshots were taken roughly around 3.30pm on Saturday, September 5th.
I was surprised to see this queue not being longer, but perhaps its popularity has just dwindled. It hasn’t been much more than 10 minutes on any weekday the past few weeks.
E.T. Adventure is particularly spectacular! 60 Minutes? You go E.T.!
Virtual lines are iffy. I love the idea of them, but on days like this it’s hard to get a time slot for these rides and once in the queue you still have to wait for a while to get on. Universal, however, is good with periodically releasing slots. So if you’re on your game you have a ton of shots at getting a time slot.
Did you know this video made for Shrek 4-D is available on Netflix? Don’t wait 2 hours for this.
Transformers too is hosting a healthy queue, with social distancing that means that all of the queue space is used for sure!
I always love seeing how terrible the queues for Wizarding World rides can get, historically those queues will easily get to 3 hours in length on peak days around the holidays. Now, however, Virtual Lines are used for E-tickets such as Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts.
With social distancing each party gets their own compartment on the Hogwarts Express, meaning that park-hopping by means of train is quite the queue today:
Universal’s Islands of Adventure
Over at Islands of Adventure queues are wild as well. Taking the train back to Universal Studios Florida presents you with a 100 minute wait.
With Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure not allowing for standby today, you can still get your Wizarding coaster experience on Flight of the Hippogriff. If you’re willing to queue 60 minutes.
Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure has historically been Virtual Queue (since reopening) on even the slightest crowded days. However, today it may definitely take some effort to secure a virtual queue for Hagrid.
I absolutely love seeing Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey still getting a decent queues. It’s still one of my favorite dark rides and really set a standard in the industry. It’s also one of the best queues in the world to be stuck in!
I have never not walked right onto Cat in the Hat (which I must admit, I absolutely adore), but today even Cat in the Hat is getting some love!
The line for the High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride is actually not even that bad, I am presuming all 4 trains are running today:
I have also seen The Incredible Hulk‘s queue worse in recent weeks, 95 minutes isn’t terrible!
One of the rides that I would wait 85 minutes for is The Amazing Adventures of Spider-man, so I hope that people didn’t let the 85 minute wait scare them away!
The same can not be said about this 160-minute queue for Kong. Like there is just no way I would brave that queue.
This is the first time I have seen them use Virtual Line for Jurassic Park River Adventure! Craziness!
The queues for the other two marquee water rides are quite a surprise as well!
Dudley Do-Right’s is another ride I have never actually waited for! I wonder how crazy this must feel!
If you were at Universal Orlando Resort this weekend, let us know on social media how your experience was. We’d love to know! Thank you for checking out this quick recap of the queue times at Universal Orlando Resort today!
