Announced during tonight’s 60th Celebration Kickoff event, Busch Gardens confirmed that Gwazi will be transformed into a wood and steel hybrid coaster standing over 200 feet tall! When it opens in 2020, it will be the tallest hybrid coaster in North America, and the fastest, steepest hybrid coaster in the world! Manufactured by Rocky Mountain Construction, the ride will feature all-new thrill elements, as well as restored elements of Gwazi.
Busch Gardens released some concepts for the attraction including the above image showing off the impressive new lift structure, first drop, and an awesome looking twisty inversion! A brief, partial POV was also teased at the end of the 60th anniversary announcement video, and we’ve included some screenshots in a gallery below. More details about the ride, including its name, layout and exact stats will be revealed at a later date, so until then, be sure to follow the hashtag #2020Rising on social media to stay up to date on the ride’s construction progress!
We couldn’t be more thrilled that Florida is receiving an incredible looking RMC hybrid coaster and can’t wait to learn more about the attraction! Be sure to stay tuned to Coaster Kings on Facebook and Instagram for our full report on tonight’s 60th Celebration Kickoff event, and of course for continued construction updates from Busch Gardens Tampa!
Doesn’t sound any more impressive than steel vengeance at cedar point
How about waiting until the ride actually opens next year before you judge?
