Splashwater Island Coming to Waterworld Concord in 2018!

Byron: Waterworld Concord, which was recently reacquired by Six Flags will be adding a new attraction in 2018 along with the rest of the Six Flags parks. Their new water play area, Splashwater Island, marks the largest addition this decade. For a water park, the promise from Six Flags of a new addition each year should mean some pretty significant change, as even small investments capital wise carry a lot of weight. Below is the press release on this year’s addition, which marks the beginning of a new era at Waterworld.

Waterworld Concord, which rejoined the Six Flags portfolio of parks earlier this year, will debut its biggest new attraction in over a decade with the introduction of Splashwater Island, a colossal and cutting-edge new, interactive water play area opening in spring 2018.

Colossal and cutting-edge, new Splashwater Island opens in 2018 with more than 100 water play features.

“Six Flags adds thrilling new rides and attractions at every park, every year and we are excited to introduce the latest water park innovations at our newest park,” said Discovery Kingdom and Waterworld Concord President Don McCoy. “Splashwater Island will offer thrilling, new water play experiences for kids and adults alike, and our guests can look forward to many more unique enhancements and additions now that Waterworld is part of the Six Flags family of parks.”

The new Splashwater Island is a mammoth, multi-level play structure with tons of water features covering almost 8,000 square feet to keep families entertained all summer long. Guests will climb up ladders, splash down 600 feet of open and enclosed slides, and navigate a maze of varying platforms and net structures. Guests will stay cool by playing under waterfalls, spouting geysers and spraying fountains. A super-sized tipping bucket sits atop the huge play structure dumping water on everyone standing underneath. One of the park’s most popular attractions—the thrilling Tornado, will be integrated into the entry portal of Splashwater Island. Additional guest amenities will also include additional deck space, private cabanas, and new restrooms.

Splashwater Island boasts more than 100 water play features, including:

  • An interactive, multi-platform playground for the entire family;
  • Dozens of geysers, jets, sprays, wheels and more;
  • 9 open and enclosed slides with 600 feet of sliding fun; and
  • A giant tipping bucket.
