We’re very excited for this new VelociCoaster update as we saw Universal Orlando Resort lift into place several new raptors! We’ve got lots of changes to infrastructure as the ride rapidly gets prepared for an on-time opening. Also featured in this update are a collection of can’t-miss long exposure night time testing pictures!
– In the past, many of our images have been posted, featured, and shared on forums, social media platforms and websites around the web. We work hard to provide the coverage that we do, and we encourage our audience to share our content and use our images, BUT ONLY IF proper credit is given to thecoasterkings.com. Thank you! –
We’ll start off with a quick collection of the coaster’s infrastructure, queue, theming, etc!
It rained for first half of the day, but it did make for a nice landscape of colors around the park. Here’s our friend Blue the velociraptor inside the enclosure where the first half of the ride takes place. She’s been joined by four new friends, we’ll take a closer look at them in a bit. Two of the new raptors are very noticeable the moment you walk into Islands of Adventure. The bridge has seen a lot of work and reinforcement to handle large crowds come VelociCoaster opening. Here’s an update on how it currently looks. Here’s a closer look at the detailed thick handrails of the bridge that have been newly added. Over by the lagoon, the viewing platform next to the roll has been cleared. Glass has been unwrapped and plants have been added around the dip between the Top Hat and the Inverted Stall. The rockwork behind the glass here is home to a new raptor statue, more images ahead… Walkways for queue space and observation areas are now visible. It looks like the queue will wind around this area. Perhaps its a mix of overflow queue and viewing space for bystanders. These mysterious markings are still on the footers of the top hat supports. Not sure what they’re for yet. There’s already some paint damage around the S-turn supports, which I expect to be repainted prior to ride opening. Can’t have a VelociCoaster Update without testing trains! One more before we move on to the new raptors!
Exciting is the new velociraptor statues that have arrived today. We have seen four new ones! Two that are located on top of the entrance to the queue, as well as two that stand where the bridge meets the ride’s entrance plaza and Jurassic Park (area). Below take a look at these new raptors. You can click on each image and swipe for a closer look.
