Emmène-nous à la Ronde

After years of waiting (procrastinating) we finally visited the last of the legacy Six Flags parks that we hadn’t experienced: La Ronde! We went in with an open mind and were pleasantly surprised by La Ronde’s ride lineup and charm! There was one major aspect of our visit that really stole the show, however: fireworks!

Discovering La Ronde: A Hidden Gem in Montreal

Unpacking the thrills and cultural treasures of Canada’s second-largest amusement park.

La Ronde, Canada’s second-largest amusement park, surprised us with its charm and exhilarating rides. One standout experience was the Goliath coaster, which Sean described as “one of the most surprising coaster experiences I’ve ever had.” Despite being under 200 feet, its airtime hills and smooth flow left him convinced it might just be his favorite B&M hyper coaster.

The Park’s Unique Identity

La Ronde, originally built for Expo ’67, has had its share of ups and downs. Sean and Alex discussed how the park’s current operations are in the hands of EPR Properties, a move that might breathe new life into this underdog amusement park. “I think La Ronde is kind of an underdog,” Sean remarked, appreciating its historical significance and unique setting on an island in Montreal.

A Night to Remember

The highlight of our visit was witnessing the L’International de Feux Loto-Quebec, a prestigious fireworks competition held annually at La Ronde. “It was a breathtaking display, and being there felt like participating in something culturally significant for the city,” Alex reflected. The atmosphere was electric, and the fireworks were a perfect finale to our day.

Culinary Delights

No visit to La Ronde is complete without indulging in local treats. We savored beaver tails, a Canadian pastry that became an instant favorite. “There is no such thing as too many beaver tails,” Alex exclaimed, reminiscing about the delicious varieties we sampled.

As our day came to a close, we felt a renewed appreciation for La Ronde and its unique offerings. The combination of thrilling rides, cultural experiences, and delightful food made this trip unforgettable.

La Ronde may not be the largest amusement park, but it certainly packs a punch with its charm and excitement. We’re already planning our next visit for another round of fireworks and fun!
