Nick: Yesterday, we took a walk around Universal Studios Florida to check out the progress of Halloween Horror Nights 28 scare zone construction. We also popped into Islands of Adventure to see the new coaster being built in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmede. Let’s take a look!
– Over the years, many of our images have popped up on other sites and forums, awesome that our coverage spreads, not so awesome that not everyone mentioned where they got the images from. We are totally fine with our audience using our images, BUT ONLY IF credit is given to californiacoasterkings.com. Thank you! –
Halloween Horror Nights 28 begins in less than a month! It’s easily my favorite time of the year, and once scare zone construction starts I start getting really excited. So far the only scare zone with props out is Twisted Tradition, which will be located in the Central Park area. At the entrance to the scare zone is a sign welcoming you to the Township of Carey, OH – a fictional location that Universal uses to set many of its original creations for Halloween Horror Nights.
The trees in this area have once again been adorned with glowing jack-o-lanterns, something that has become a staple of the event in recent years.
Lots of large set pieces line the street, creating perfect hiding spots for scareactors. Just add some fog and this scare zone will look amazing at night!
One of my favorite things about the event is attention to detail that goes into making the props and sets. This zone is full of rotting pumpkins, and some of their faces make it look like they’re actually feeling pain!
In the middle of the scare zone there’s a large set piece covered by a tarp. Usually, anything that is too gruesome/gory for day guests gets covered up like this, so I can’t wait to see what’s underneath!
Here’s one last look at a couple more of the great sets they’ve got set up near the end of the scare zone. Halloween Horror Nights 28 starts on September 14th, and we’ll be sure to be back for another construction update before then!
