VALENCIA, Calif. — June 28, 2016 — Bigger, Better and Wetter than ever, Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is ready to keep Southern Californian’s cool all summer long. The park is open daily for its 22nd season and will introduce an exciting new addition to the popular water park this week.

Debuting Thursday, June 30 is the new Python Plunge, a colorful, one-of-a-kind, three-slide complex featuring two enclosed coiled slides and one enclosed speed slide that empty out into the sprawling Lizard Lagoon.

Among the list of speed slides is Bonzai Pipelines, with two impressive side-by-side shoots that feature a unique launching capsule system on Black Snake Summit. After reaching the top of the five-story tower, guests step into the enclosed vertical capsule where the floor drops out beneath them, sending riders free-falling 40 miles-per-hour down the slide. Black Snake Summit also has two enclosed body slides and two tube slides.

On Tornado, a six story funnel of fun, riders begin their experience 75 feet in the air by blasting down a 132-foot long tunnel, leading to the mammoth, open-ended funnel. The ride’s specially designed 4-person cloverleaf shaped tubes hug the inside of the slide, splashing back and forth on 5,000 gallons of swirling water into a cool catch pool below.

One of the most thrilling attractions in Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is Taboo Tower, a 75-foot-tall tower featuring three speed water slides, including one that features a 45-degree straight drop. Another thrill is Bamboo Racer, a unique six-lane racing attraction that places riders head first, side-by-side, on specially designed water toboggans, then speed down the 45-foot tall water slides.

“Hurricane Harbor is the perfect summer spot for water lovers of all ages,” said Bonnie Sherman Weber, Six Flags Hurricane Harbor park president. “We are excited to introduce Python Plunge, a complex of three spectacular new slides this season. These additions are a natural complement to our existing blend of thrill slides and family adventure. We are committed to taking our water park to a new level of entertainment each and every year, and 2016 is no exception.”

For teens and young adults, the sprawling 3.2 acre Lizard Lagoon has a tropical beach resort atmosphere featuring activities including a three-and-a-half foot deep recreational pool with basketball hoops, water volleyball and comfortable lounge chairs beneath bamboo shade structures and swaying palm trees.

Located next to Lizard Lagoon is Cabana Cove, a relaxing oasis featuring private rental cabanas with table, lounge chairs, food and beverage wait service and free tube rentals.  Cabana Cove offers guests a bit more privacy and shade for their families and friends.

Splash Island is fun for the entire family with its water slides, rain curtains and squirting effects to keep everyone cool in the hot California sun. Mom and dad can relax in nearby lounge chairs while keeping an eye on the little ones as they explore a variety of water play platforms and fountains throughout the structure. Castaway Cove is a specially-designed water play area for kids under 54-inches, featuring the secluded tide pools of Octopus Island, where the giant eight-legged creature guards the region’s hidden treasures squirting water from its ears and cockeyed hat.

There’s also family attractions, Tiki Falls, featuring two enclosed tube slides and one semi-enclosed tube slide; Lost Temple Rapids, a fun rafting adventure; and, The River Cruise lazy river featuring a 2 mile-per-hour current.

For a more entertaining and relaxing water experience, guests may pull up an inner tube or grab a lounge chair for the popular Friday Flicks Dive-In Movies, featuring family-friendly movies in the Forgotten Sea wave pool now through Labor Day beginning at 6 p.m. The Crow’s Nest food location nearby offers hot dogs and nachos.
