Picking a room
What room would fit you best? We’ll we had a look at all the different types taking in account certain elements: What kind of view does the room have? What are the facilities? What’s the location? One thing is for sure, every room is high class quality. Expect expensive materials and a well themed atmosphere. Now let’s start comparing!
Paddling Bear Hotel (The Last Frontier) | ✅ Close to the hotel entrance ✅ Cheapest price range ✅ On top of the restaurant | ❗️Limited view on animals ❗️No sauna ❗️No balcony |
The Paddling Bear Hotel offers rooms for families of 3 to 4 adults. This option can be considered as the basic option where you stay inside the park with all the main perks.
Paddling Bear Lodge (The Last Frontier) | ✅ Close to the hotel entrance ✅ Balcony ✅ Sauna | ❗️Limited view on stellar sea lions ❗️Higher price range ❗️Limited availability |
Right next to the Paddling Bear Hotel you can find 4 exclusive lodges. These can hold up to 4 adults where you can step outside on the balcony and watch the stellar sea lions. So no direct view but besides the balcony, you also have a private sauna at your disposal.
Native Village (The Last Frontier) | ✅ Free roaming animals ✅ Balcony ✅ Sauna | ❗️Limited view on stellar sea lions ❗️Higher price range ❗️Very visible by other guests |
The Native Village houses are perfect for larger families as they hold up to 6 adults. The 10 different houses look out on the American Black Bear reserve. Next to that, there’s fallow deer roaming the area but currently that wasn’t the cases probably due to covid measures. The outside may look simple but inside there’s a warm wooden atmosphere and also here you can find a sauna.
Full Moon Lodges (The Last Frontier) | ✅ Great view on bears ✅ Sauna ✅ Terrace | ❗️Higher price range ❗️Currently no wolves |
The Full Moon Lodges will immediately make you think of a hobbit style cozy home. Before you enter, you have a little terrace where you can sit outside on the park side. Once you enter through the large wooden circle door, you enter a forest themed room that can hold up to 6 adults. Through the oval window, you can look out on a forest with several brown bears. If you’re lucky, you can even see them in the trees! These rooms probably qualify as the highest rated rooms at Pairi Daiza.
Tiger House (Land of the Cold) | ✅ Great view on tigers ✅ Good price/quality ✅ Situated more inside the park | ❗️No sauna ❗️No balcony |
A Tiger House can hold either 2 (lower level view) or 4 adults (higher level view). The rooms offer great quality and have a central location in the Land of the Cold. Although the tiger reserve is quite large, you should definitely have views on them. The biggest plus for rooms in the Land of the Cold is the view on the animals for sure. Because of this, you don’t have a balcony but you can quickly walk inside the park anyway.
Penguin House (Land of the Cold) | ✅ Great view on penguins ✅ Good price/quality ✅ Situated more inside the park | ❗️No sauna ❗️No balcony ❗️Limited daylight |
The Penguin rooms are new for 2021. Enter the building to explore the penguin cave right from your room. There’s 2 adult rooms with birds-eye view. However, the best rooms have to be the family rooms for bigger families up to 4 children. There you can see them both inside and outside the water. Keep in mind however that at night, you cannot put on all the lights in your room as not to disturb the animals. So if you don’t mind a dark but well themed enclosed room, these might be the type for you.
Walrus House (Land of the Cold) | ✅ Great view on penguinst ✅ Good price/quality ✅ Situated more inside the park | ❗️No sauna ❗️No balcony ❗️Limited availability |
The Walrus house takes you below to offer rooms with view on the walrus bassin. These two adult rooms are right in between the two polar bear complexes. Keep in mind that you’ll mostly see water at your window but the walrus pass by quite often. They also might be one of the best roomviews where you can still see the animals at night. Next to that, they are well hidden from the day guests. Due to the size of the exhibit, only a few rooms are available so they might sell out faster than other rooms.
Polar Bear House (Land of the Cold) | ✅ Great view on polar bears ✅ Good price/quality ✅ Situated more inside the park | ❗️No sauna ❗️No balcony |
The Polar Bear House is the one we can talk about most as that was our pick. However, let’s talk about the 3 different options here. There’s the family rooms on the highest floor and two person rooms with overhead view and water view. We selected the overhead view which is on ground level. For us, this was perfect as we had loads of views on the polar bears. They did swim sometimes but mostly they were outside of the water, so although water views sounds fun, they’ll mostly be relaxing outside the water.
The room itself uses very high quality material and there’s quite some attention for detail. The whole room centers around the window towards the polar bears. Both from the bed and the bathroom, you can see straight through the view!
Speaking of the bathroom, there’s a shower and bathtub with special therapy mode. Next to that, there’s a separate toilet: all in Land of the Cold style.
Between 6pm30 and 7pm30, they deliver your 3 course dinner. Because of covid measures, you get jars which you have to heat in a microwave. Although this isn’t ideal, the flavors of the courses really impressed us. My favorite had to be the dessert though!
After our dinner, we went for a walk in the dark around the two open areas! To be honest, not the best time to spot the animals without a nightcam as most will be invisible. Nevertheless, it’s exciting to walk around alone in the areas. We did spot the moose and the sea lions. In summer, you’ll have more time to enjoy the animals of course.
After a good night sleep, we got our breakfast delivered! A box filled with bread, meats, spreads, egg, yoghurt and more!
The main perk of the room though, is the view. During the morning hours before park opening, they also do planned feeding moments for the different animals. That way, you are sure to see some close by from you room! Here’s just a few of our Polar Bear encounters.
We hope you enjoyed reading all about this special themed zoo: Pairi Daiza. If you don’t mind going to a zoo, this one definitely has to be on your list. And while you go, we definitely think you should spend the night to have a full experience.
