So there is hope because Tormenta, surprisingly, runs very well. For a three hundred foot coaster from B&M, I expected so much worse, but it’s relatively smooth. Whether it’s quality control or heightened manufacturing standards, I’m impressed.
A Beautiful Transformation
The new Rancho de Tormenta area looks stunning, with bright, fiesta-like aesthetics reminiscent of Knotts Berry Farm. The construction walls are clean, and the bridge leading to the ride enhances the ambiance. It’s exciting to see the groundwork being laid for future enhancements, especially around the area where the Larson loop used to be.
The Flume Experience
When we visited, Flume One was open and surprisingly quiet, a rare treat. This original Arrow Flume from 1963 was a delightful surprise amidst the park’s historical background. Did you know that Six Flags Over Texas has about ten attractions that predate 1970? It’s a testament to the park’s rich history.
The Thrill of Tormenta
Tormenta is indeed a big deal for the park, and it delivers on excitement. With its towering three hundred and nine foot drop, the ride offers unexpected airtime and some thrilling moments of hang time. The ride’s tall inversion is a notable highlight, feeling like a free fall into thrilling elements.

We were fortunate to visit during a low crowd day, making our experience even more enjoyable. We walked right onto rides, including Tormenta, without the need to leave the station. The park’s quiet atmosphere allowed us to take in the sights and take plenty of photos — the view from below the ride is absolutely stunning!
Final Thoughts

While there’s always room for improvement, especially with locker systems, the effort put into Tormenta and its surrounding area is commendable.
